Obituary For

Ivon (Wilson) Nelson

10/13/1921 - 10/05/2013

IF YOU ARE SENDING FLOWERS, PLEASE SEND THEM TO THE CHURCH AFTER 4:00 P.M. MONDAY, OCTOBER 7TH.

Ivon (Wilson) Nelson, 91, of Chelsea went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from Wood Manor Nursing Center, Claremore. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary Christian Worship Center with Reverend Carl Page officiating. Visitation for family and friends will take place on Monday,  October 7, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at The Sanctuary. Interment will be in the Chelsea Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home of Bartlesville. Lola Ivon (Wilson) Nelson was born October 13, 1921 in Depew, OK to Samuel P. and Ollie Ethel  (Ellis) Wilson. As a young girl, Ivon moved with her family to Chelsea in 1925. Ivon spent her youth helping on the family farm like everyone during the Depression. Her faith in God and family helped get her through those hard times. On December 24, 1940 in Claremore she married Lewey Nelson, Jr. In 1945 they moved to a small farm just outside of Chelsea on HWY 28 where they called home for 43 years until his death in 1988. Ivon was a homemaker but worked outside the home after her children were raised and on their own. She was employed for many years at the Chelsea LP Gas Co. and the Chelsea Schools Cafeteria until her retirement. Her life story would not be complete without mentioning her journey through life with her Lord and Savior. Ivon gave her life to the Lord at a young age and walked in his footsteps all her life. She was a founding member of Chelsea Free Holiness Church (The Sanctuary Christian Worship Center) where she worked many hours making doughnuts to raise money to build the church. Ivon was the church secretary-treasurer for many years and was faithful in attendance until poor health caused her to be unable to attend. However, she was there in mind, spirit and soul. Her home always had a light on and a welcome mat to any and all as she classified everyone as family. Her smile and hug as you walked in the door always brightened your day. Her cooking and baking can only be described as "HEAVENLY".  Ivon is survived by her sons; Robert Lee Nelson of Chelsea and Johnny Ray Nelson and wife Jackie of Claremore. Foster daughter, Gurlee "Jerri" and husband Frank Bowen of Tulsa. Two daughters-in-law; Zella Nelson and Liz Nicholas of Chelsea. Ivon was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and one honorary granddaughter from Finland, Teija Mikkila. One brother-in-law, Richard Nelson and wife Leota, sister-in-law, Mary E. Wilson, all of Chelsea along with numerous nieces, nephews and  many, many friends and loved ones. Ivon was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lewey "Junior" Nelson, son, Kenneth Wayne Nelson and five brothers which she cherished dearly; Orval, Earl, Delmer, Ulis "Dud" and Jessie Wilson. They are all having a joyous reunion at this time just inside the pearly gates, walking down those streets of gold and observing that mansion that has been prepared for them as promised in the Bible. What a GREAT reunion that must be!!!!!!!
