Katherine “Katy” Fay Hanna, 90, of Bartlesville, passed away Thursday in Bartlesville.
Katherine - or Katy as she was known - was born the daughter of Leslie Earl and Martha Carolyn (Wheatley) Lee on April 26, 1928, in Dewey, OK. She grew up on the family farm with her seven siblings north of Dewey. During this time she worked at Kimmel Rexall and as a waitress. Katy graduated with the Class of 1946 from Dewey High School and soon after, met and married William R. Hanna Jr. on July 27, 1946. They made their home in Dewey.
Once their youngest daughter started school, Katy started her 30 year and nine month career with the City of Bartlesville, retiring on April 30, 1990. Her loyalty and dedication extended to the many friends and enjoyable relationships she formed through her work. Once retired she and William moved to their weekend home on Lake Hudson, and Katy remained there for the next 26 years until moving back to Bartlesville in 2016. After 61 years of loving marriage William preceded her in death in 2007.
In retirement Katy and William loved to take trips to Branson, MO, to see their favorite shows. On many weekends, family joined them at Lake Hudson, enjoying leisurely lake life filled with water skiing, boating and picnics. William used his woodworking skills to cut out shapes of wood that Katy would paint and decorate to sell or give to friends and family. Later in life she took up reading and became a fixture at the Salina Library. She enjoyed crocheting and keeping busy with many memorable trips with her extended family. Most of all she loved the Lord and her church family at Salina Baptist Church in Salina, OK.
Katy is survived by her two daughters, Betty Walker and Roger of Bartlesville, and Vicki Burr and Fred of Springdale, AR; one brother Dean Lee and Pat of Dewey; one sister Ardith Rice of Watsonville, CA; nine grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 24 great great grandchildren and three great great great grandchildren.
